How to manually sync notes
On iOS and iPadOS
- Open the Cleft app.
- On the notes list screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- This will initiate a manual sync and refresh your notes.
On macOS
There are two ways to manually sync your notes on macOS:Automatic syncing
Cleft also performs automatic syncing in the following situations:App Launch
When you launch the app
Content Changes
After creating or editing a note
Background Sync
Periodically in the background (when the app is open)
Delta sync
Cleft only syncs notes that have changed — no more full reloads of your entire library. This makes syncing significantly faster, especially if you have a large number of notes.Auto-export to your Mac
Notes recorded on your iPhone or Apple Watch can automatically appear in a local folder on your Mac. This requires setting up a local folder in your macOS Cleft settings first.- Open Cleft on your Mac
- Go to Settings and configure a local folder path
- Once enabled, synced notes from your other devices will automatically export to that folder
Tips for effective syncing
Ensure you’re connected to the internet for syncing to work properly
If you’ve made changes on one device, allow a few moments for the sync to complete before accessing the same note on another device
If you’re experiencing sync issues, try manually refreshing on each device
Syncing ensures that your notes are always up-to-date across all your devices, allowing you to seamlessly switch between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac while working with Cleft.
